Corporate Responsibility, Sustainability and Reporting

Global Reporting Initiative (GRI G3) is now the de-facto international standard used by over 1500 companies for corporate reporting on environmental, social and economic performance. GRI is a scoring methodology to show the transparency rating of a company’s ability or willingness to report to accepted indicators and best practices. In 1997, Ceres launched the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), which has become the internationally established standard for corporate reporting on the “triple bottom line” of economic, social and environmental performance.

Ceres is a national network of over 130 investment funds, environmental organizations, labor unions and other public interest groups working to increase corporate responsibility. Formed in 1989, Ceres created the Ceres Principles, a pioneering 10-point code of corporate environmental conduct that led to widespread adoption of environmental principles by corporations worldwide. Ceres also directs the Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR).

CorporateRegister.com is the Communications Supporter of the Ceres-ACCA Sustainability Reporting Awards program. CorporateRegister.com is the global corporate responsibility (CR) resources website. It hosts the world’s most comprehensive directory of CR and sustainability reports, profiling nearly 23,000 reports worldwide from over 5,000 companies. With an archive stretching back to 1990 it is indispensable for anyone working in the field of CR and sustainability reporting.

Colorado Environmental Leadership Program (CELP) is administered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s. Colorado’s Environmental Leadership Program offers benefits and incentives to members that voluntarily go beyond compliance with state and federal regulations and are committed to continual environmental improvement.

Corporate Meetings, Conferences and Trade Shows

The Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC) is the premier global community solely dedicated to sustainability in the meetings and events industry, not only through education but also by spearheading research, policy and standards.

APEX is currently in the process of finalizing standards for green meetings and events. The standards will be composed of nine sectors within the planning process. Those are: Accommodations, A/V, Production, Communications & Marketing, Destinations, Exhibits, Food & Beverage, Meeting Venue, On-Site Offices, & Transportation.

ASTM International is one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world-a trusted source for technical standards for materials, products, systems, and services. Known for their high technical quality and market relevancy, ASTM International standards have an important role in the information infrastructure that guides design, manufacturing and trade in the global economy.

Colorado Convention Center is premier event venue for conferences, expos and trade shows located in downtown Denver, CO. The Center’s Sustainability Office is a leading example of convention sustainability and the Colorado Convention Center is one of BolderPath’s DiversionWorks ReSource Partners. We service them by reclaiming marketing and operational wastes that can be repurposed.

VisitDenver is Colorado’s largest Visitors Bureau and Convention Agency. We’ve been a member of VisitDenver since 2010, and are a great resource to connect with the events and conferences that come to town.

Sport and Mass Participation Events

Athletes For a Fit Planet introduces the Pledge of Sustainability that provides event organizers with formal and public recognition for taking steps to become more environmentally responsible.

Product Certifications

Note: Most product certifications are either based on the organization’s own set of standards and evaluation criteria. Organizations, especially web-based ones, compare and present very different aspects of a company’s sustainability, and the better ones in our opinion go well past product ‘eco-friendliness.’ Many more to come soon.

Cradle to Cradle Certification provides a company with a means to tangibly, credibly measure achievement in environmentally-intelligent design and helps customers purchase and specify products that are pursuing a broader definition of quality. This means using environmentally safe and healthy materials; design for material reutilization, such as recycling or composting; the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency; efficient use of water, and maximum water quality associated with production; and instituting strategies for social responsibility.

BolderPath is not able to get Cradle To Cradle Certification on products that are made from reclaimed materials. Since conventional manufacturing is dominated by virgin materials, Cradle To Cradle is focusing on resources extraction and life cycle analysis only for raw, virgin materials that can be tested from the source.
